Strawberry Shortcake

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is our 14 year old expression which sees its final period of maturation in casks that had previously held Ruby Port. Quinta Ruban derives a deep and subtly sweet berry note from these casks, as well as its distinct copper and rose hues.

Along with those berry flavors, the creaminess and hints of vanilla it derives from primary maturation in American ex-Bourbon oak make Quinta Ruban the perfect pairing for fresh, homemade Strawberry Shortcake.

Visit a Farmer’s Market

My visit to the farmers' market was a sensory feast filled with colors, aromas, and inspiring ideas!

The scent of freshly cut flowers reminded me of the honeysuckle and white wildflower aromas of Glenmorangie Original and the rose petal and lavender notes of Quinta Ruban

The flavor of pecans and the sight of black pearl, oyster, chestnut, and trumpet mushrooms reminded me of Lasanta's earthy, nutty richness.

The locally sourced honey and the artisanal baked goods reminded me of the beeswax, citrus, and pastry undertones of Nectar d'Or.

Perhaps a tangy, minty Smash Cocktail with Original, my favorite Mushroom Bolognese with Lasanta, a dram of Quinta enjoyed near a beautiful bouquet, or a lemon pastry paired with Nectar d'Or. The sensory bounty of Springtime makes all these possible!

Quinta Ruban and Rhubarb Cranachan

Made with seasonal fruit, cream, oats, and whisky, Cranachan has been called 'the uncontested king of Scottish desserts'. Traditionally, it would be made to celebrate the end of the raspberry harvest in June, but I can't wait that long!

We'll be using the rhubarb from our garden along with blueberries, oats, and Quinta Ruban to create this delectable Scottish dessert. And of course we'll pair it with a dram of Quinta Ruban to bring out its dark fruit notes and rich maltiness!

The luscious peach and vanilla notes of Glenmorangie Original get paired up with a grilled peach cobbler a la mode!

With cookout season on the horizon, this week's Glenmorangie Flavor Journey heads excitedly in that direction, matching up a classic dessert, a backyard grill, and a dram of Glenmorangie Original for what's sure to be a delicious and decadent flavor experience.

Pairing Cheeses with our Core Range

Scotch whisky and cheese can be absolutely delicious together!

We'll look at the whiskies in the Glenmorangie Core Range - Original, Lasanta, Quinta Ruban, and Nectar d'Or, and pair them with some widely available cheeses (I found all mine at Costco) to explore all the delicious combinations and possibilities!

Lemon, Citrus, and Basil

This post will take a journey exploring Lemon, one of the hallmarks of Glenmorangie Original's citrusy notes, and its harmonious relationship with Basil. We'll make a terrific Glenmorangie Original Basil Double Eagle cocktail and pair it with a delicious lemon & basil pasta dish!

Lasanta & Dried Figs

This post will take a journey exploring Glenmorangie Lasanta's dried fruit richness through figs and their harmonious relationship with cheese & nuts. We'll make a terrific cheese plate to enjoy with Lasanta, and on Friday I'll create a Lasanta cocktail with fig jam and cold brewed coffee for my Cocktail Of The Week!

Extremely Rare 18 & Cremini Mushrooms

This post will take a journey exploring the earthy depth that eighteen years of maturation infuses into Glenmorangie Extremely Rare through Cremini mushrooms and their beguiling relationship with saffron. We'll make a delicious mushroom and sundried tomato risotto to enjoy with Extremely Rare.

Head to Egypt

This week's Glenmorangie Flavor Journey starts with the roasted, espresso-laced richness of Signet, invites coriander to join in, picks up cumin along the way, and ends up in exotic, faraway Egypt!

We'll taste Signet alongside Egyptian Duqqa, made from hazelnuts, sesame seed, coriander, & cumin, served with extra virgin olive oil and crusty bread.

Black Truffle

The earthy underpinnings of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban inspired this week's Glenmorangie Flavor Journey into the forested realm of the black truffle.

We created two distinctly different baked naan dishes - one incorporating sun-dried tomatoes, asparagus and fresh mozzarella and the other combining the flavors of dijon, goat cheese, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and Herbs de Provence. Each received a drizzle of black truffle oil and was then served with Quinta Ruban as well as Glenmorangie Original and Nectar d'Or. Which pairing had what it took to win our hearts?.

Irish Spice Cake

Glenmorangie Original has a gingery brightness to it that inspired this week's Flavor Journey.

In honor of St Patrick's Day, and in my ginger mood, I'm going to try my hand at this delicious sounding Irish Spice Cake recipe I found at Food52. I'll top it with a glaze made from Glenmorangie Original.

Roasted Cauliflower with Lentils and Lemon Dill Caper Vinaigrette

The hints of lemon & coconut in Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or find a surprising harmony with dill in this week's Flavor Journey.

To explore this unique synergy further, I'm going to be making a roasted cauliflower and lentil salad from a recipe I found at ElleRepublic.com. I'll serve it with a dram of Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or.

Blueberry Tart with Quinta Ruban

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban has such luscious dark fruit notes I thought I'd see where they take me in this week's Flavor Journey.

Blueberry has a juicy, dark fruit intensity. When paired with vanilla, its floral and creamy characteristics are also highlighted. I'll make a blueberry & vanilla tart this week and serve it with a dram of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. Quinta's 'flowers, berries & cream' essences should be delicious with the warm berries and crisp pastry of the tart.
